One of my favorite scenes in the series. One of those serene moments of clarity in a narrative gives pause to the audience, putting everything in perspective. It honestly reminds me of when, in Breaking Bad, Walter is passing out from the roofie Jesse slipped him during the fly episode. As he’s losing consciousness, he begins to confess about how everything’s gone wrong, and how he wishes he had died exactly when he was watching the elephant documentary on the TV, while taking care of his daughter. Two of my favorite scenes ever.

One of the best changes from book to movie in the serie. In the book, his speech is so normal.

I feel so bad. The movie didn’t do any justice to the book. All the details, all the ideas, all reality came out through their conversations. But none of the conversations were here. Even the inferi…I mean zombies didn’t look like they were described in the book……sooooo disappointing.

Be brave and defend what is worth living for in life and shake yourself out of complacent fear. Live for meaning, beauty and love. Voldemort lives for himself and lives for holding dear to life, to live forever because he fears death above all else, and he fears connecting with others. Defend what you love, rather than living and defending from a position of fear.

Am I the only one wondering how so many wizards had a glass vial in their robes randomly empty for scenes like this? I'm not hating but its so random it's like me carrying an empty altoids box or something equally random. I get it they are both potions masters and should probably have a vial in case they need it but it just irks me some times. Much love potter fans!

Half blood prince might not be my favorite movie of the franchise but this scene❤... This scene is certainly one of my favorite scene throughout the series. It literally gives me chills everytime I watch it❤

Such a beautiful, touching scene. Slughorn's feelings for Lily are so tender, full of affection for the girl who grew up and was killed. He can't even put her death into words. He so admired the "beautiful magic!" of the muggle born girl. And Harry shows such emotional insight. He challenges Slughorn without really shaming him. He challenges Slughorn to be his best, braver self. And the line, "...and the bowl will stay empty forever." It's the only moment Harry speaks like a true poet! The urgency of his task, the memory of his mother, and perhaps the liquid luck give him an eloquence that is normally not part of his personality. (Dumbledore is usually the subtly eloquent one.) Clearly Harold Bloom, who lied about JK Rowling's writing when he trashed it, complaining about a flat phrase repeated over and over that wasn't in the text at all, He obviously didn't read the books at all. This scene completely proves that Rowling can write beautifully.

This scene i was genuinely crying like ...ugly crying ...its horrible once u know what Dumbledore was reliving ...😢😢😢and it still hurts me watching it after years
